Crime of the Century

Well, I have to say this- the cat fell asleep within the first few minutes of listening to this meditation and is still snoring! Me, not so much. I don't think I was in the right mind-set, and will need to try it again. I am too into watchin the kaleidescope of colors and hate to turn them off. Then I started to think- why isn't the green on the bottom because that should be where the "roots" are, and why isn't the heart area red- it makes me feel all warm and loving. And then he said aqua and it drove me nuts. Ok, I come from New Jersey originally and when I first came to PA long ago, I sounded like I had a Brooklyn accent. Most of it is gone, but there are still a few words that hang on- dawg for dog, amond for almond and surely ak-wa for aqua.  I hit that and I was so done! Like I said, I wasn't in the correct mind-frame, and wasn't able to relax from the words, but the colors sure do mermerize me!
Will be trying this again for sure, and I think I will lay with the cat this time! s.

  1. Hi Susan,

Oh my gosh, you have me laughing! Makes me think of Forest Gump - "life is like a box of chocolate." You will just need to find a different way to meditate. I teach a personal trainer education course and I tell the students there are MANY, MANY ways for a client to become fit and healthy - there is no machine that will work for everyone. I have a client who asked if we could start using a hula-hoop - whatever works and gets her to move!

Did I already recommend using a foam roller (myofascial release/self-massage) for your plantar fasciitis? Just as our mind, body, spirit are interconnected so our muscles, fascia, ligaments, and tendons. What happens at our feet can affect our knee, hip, shoulder, neck, etc., and vice-versa. Taking care of ourselves is a full-time job - lol. :-)

    1. I have to try the foam roller Cynthia- how big should it be? I used to meditate walking the streets of Hershey with my python. I would throw her over my shoulder (warm weather only) and off we would go. I usually felt rather safe when I had her with me- a lot of people were afraid of her. Little kids usually wanted to pet her. Something about listening to her breathe and concentrating on my footsteps did it for me.

  2. Hello Susan,
Thank you so much for your blog on the exercise. I myself found it to be very relaxing although I can totally relate to your experience as well at other times in my life and just not being in the mood or able to relax. It is a hit and miss sometimes :)Your goals also look great! You are very inspiring and I really enjoy reading your blogs :) I hope that you have a great night!

  3. Hi Susan,
I loved your post about the meditation exercise. I laughed at your very first line, that was so funny! I actually fell asleep during the exercise just like your cat lol. I also want to listen to it again so my conscious mind can participate next time lol. I could understand exactly how you felt, instead of relaxing and just "taking in" what he was saying, you started "picking it all apart". My boyfriend participated in some EMDR recently and he did the exact same thing. Good luck next time!

  4. Susan,
I totally get wanting different colors for various parts of the body! I was distracted by the same thoughts :) Next time I'll just be sure to make up my own color-body part associations (I guess in the beginning of the exercise he does mention that people often do anyway). I'm glad your cat seemed to enjoy the relaxation at least! Hope you have better luck relaxing next time.
